Topic: All About Emotions #13: A Model for How Emotions Are Triggered
For years, I have been trying to understand how emotions are triggered. In this class I will share my model for the causal process that results in an emotion. My model makes values at stake the driver of thoughts and emotions. In contrast, most Objectivists view premises as the driver. I will share:
- How I think the mechanism works
- Why I think the premise model doesn't work
- How my model explains "wrong premises" by means of defense values and anti-values
This is the first time I will try to articulate the issues in a class setting. Feel free to send in questions in advance.
