This film stars Kevin Costner as the coach of a cross-country running program at a small California high school in central California. It is based on true events and is very uplifting.

      Re: Earl Goudie’s post 100416 of 10/9/17

I second Earl Goudie’s recommendation of the 2015 movie McFarland, USA. This movie — about a real-life coach who develops a highly successful high school cross-country team drawn from Hispanic students who have been written off — dramatizes the quest to reach one’s full potential. Its tagline, “Champions can come from anywhere” hints at what I think is the movie’s theme: unlocking potential.

The film also concretizes what a tremendous value it can be for someone to have a mentor recognize ability and foster its flourishing.
