This is one that I would NOT recommend, especially for fans of the murder-mystery genre. I only mention it because I’m curious of others’ opinions on its premise. Though it is well acted and well directed, its ending is wanting, to say the least. I would call it a post-modern take on murder-mystery.
We thought the show did a good job of recreating in the viewer the (inner) conflict experienced by Jacob’s parents, and the question it posed about which parent’s morality is superior, especially when both have tragic implications (it may help that we are parents).
Apparently the ending of the book was far less ambiguous (massive spoiler warning):
