There have been slews of medical programs on TV since the beginning, some better, some worse. I have scarcely seen 1/10th of them, so I won’t try to make comparisons.
But season 1 of Transplant, which just ended, is definitely worth seeing. The series depicts the doctors in a Canadian emergency room. Without exception, they are passionately dedicated to their patients, to using the most modern and sophisticated medical knowledge, diagnostics, procedures, and technology. Being emergency room doctors, they must diagnose and act quickly, and with the self-confidence that they know what to do, a self-confidence that they battle to preserve no matter what. The lead character demonstrates all of these traits to the hilt, even as he battles demons from his past (in war-destroyed Syria) that threaten that self-confidence.
Leave aside the flawed aspects (such is the nature of modern film art). They are not important enough to stop you from watching. (I sometimes wonder if these flaws are not due to such works being the product of a committee, rather than a single mind’s creation). The next season has been scheduled in Canada, but not yet in the U.S.
