About four years ago, I posted here on the wonderful and amazing performers, Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi. They command a tremendous repertoire of ragtime, stride, swing, boogie woogie piano music for two or four hands. They perform classic arrangements and their own new arrangements of this entire body of unbelievably original American music.

They are also delightful people, who display utter happiness in their music and their performing.

The reason I am bringing them up again is that, through the exigencies of Covid, they have turned to online performances and lectures – which are fantastic. One Tuesday of every month you can tune in to hear them for one hour of exuberantly ebullient music. They have interspersed these also with online lecture/ performances on selected topics in the history of American jazz.

It’s all done through the web platform, Patreon, and is really cheap to subscribe to.

This music is immensely difficult to play so as to make it sound and feel effortless and spontaneous. Their command of what they are doing is truly impressive. I am especially happy to know that younger musicians are continuing to invigorate and nourish this great music.

      Here’s a link to them: http://www.paoloandstephanie.com.
