Master Class on
ā€œThe Objectivist Ethicsā€ Part I

"The Objectivist Ethics" (TOE) was a one-hour speech for college students, yet it presents, in clear and simple language, all the essentials of Ayn Rand's philosophic revolution, from metaphysics through politics.

This first course (TOE 1) is an in-depth analysis of the speech's first half, devoting 14 classes to just 60 paragraphs. (TOE 2 is 12 classes on the remaining 46 paragraphs).

In these paragraphs Ayn Rand provides a new conception of what morality is and lays out a rational, logical proof of Man's Life as the standard of moral value. Her approach cuts the ground out from under Hume, who erected the infamous "is"-"ought" dichotomy, and Kant who held that there are "oughts"--only they have to be "intuited" by feeling, not identified by logic.

Dr. Binswanger calls upon a lifetime of study and teaching to spotlight and examine the crucial steps of, and inductive methodology used by, this world-shaking speech/essay.
