Ayn Rand said this book has no plot. How can she say that when the story was about a man working to build a grain elevator?Ā

I thought the book was pretty good. It was a bit old fashioned but it displayed a man with values who was quite effective.Ā  In that way, I agree with Ayn Rand.Ā  I think the attempt to corner the market in grain probably influenced a part of Atlas Shrugged.Ā Ā

Ayn Rand differentiates between a story and a plot. A plot has a greater requirement. A story need not be more than a series of events. A plot requires conflict and a logical connection among events.
