I would like to highly recommend Failing to Confront Islamic Totalitarianism: From George W. Bush to Barack Obama and Beyond by ARI’s Onkar Ghate and Elan Journo. The book was published in 2016 and has just been released on audio.

This book is a great resource that documents the prescience of ARI intellectuals on this topic, beginning soon after 9/11/01, because they were able to see the underlying philosophical principles underpinning various concrete decisions. Reading it in 2018, one gains a great appreciation for the power of ideas and sees directly how the consequences of bad philosophies play out over time. The book covers a lot of ground and is a good refresher of all the ups and downs of this battle, which may have blurred together over the last 17 years.

I still remember Dr. Peikoff being interviewed by John Kasich (filling in for Bill O’Reilly) shortly after 9/11, maybe October 2001.  Dr.  Peikoff told him exactly what would happen.  Kasich was incredulous; he couldn’t process what he was hearing.  He categorically denied what Dr. Peikoff was telling him.

I never saw Dr. Peikoff on TV talking about our war effort after that.
