I just finished Objectively Speaking: Ayn Rand Interviewed edited by Marlene Podritske and Peter Schwartz and found to be very enjoyable as well as informative. I highly recommend it.
Some of my favorite quotes are:
“When you violate anybody’s rights, you violate the rights of all. A society cannot respect the principle of individual rights part-time.”
“A man who is a full altruist would have to find a cannibal village and offer himself as a meal, because that would be the only way he could make a total sacrifice for the sake of others while deriving nothing in return.”
In reply to a question about a child reading salacious literature:
“A parent doesn’t control every garbage can in town for fear that a child might start eating tainted food.”
In reply to a question about characters in art she likes:
“…they live for their profession. All their other interests are subordinated to the one central goal, which is fighting for certain values in which they believe. And the fight personally matters to them—it is not merely a process of impersonal, mental deduction.”
