Several months ago Allison Kunze recommended the movie The Judge and I agree with her that it is an enjoyable movie.
The movie centers on a high-powered lawyer (played by Robert Downey Jr.) who returns to his rural hometown for his mother’s funeral and remains there to defend his father (played by Robert Duvall, who received an Oscar nomination for the role), a local judge, who is accused of murdering a man whose case he presided over. While there, he is faced with long-standing issues concerning his family and friends.
The acting is very good and the story very engaging. The theme, to me, seemed to be about being able to move past grudges, given sufficient contrition and mutual understanding has occurred.
