PBS, American Experience, has a two-hour program on Thomas Edison this evening (Jan 26). The program begins at 9pm (8pm Central time). Check your local PBS station.
Here is a review of the program in the NYT – it looks very interesting, particularly because it describes not only Edison the inventor, but Edison the entrepreneur and businessman who understood how to transform his inventions into products people bought and used.
There was a followup program about the auto tours and camping by Edicon, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and an artist. Reporters and cooks, etc were part of it. It had a good sense of life and many Americans followed the idea of auto tours.
